Rim Shot at Sunset

I love scenes like this. I'm glad its just 15 miles from where I live. I'm not a lover of the ocean or tropical places, or big cities or smog and a lot of noise. (as the saying goes, "they are a nice places to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.")

I love the American Southwest and its vastness and wide open spaces. I love the four distinct seasons and the vivid earthy colors. I don't have to travel far to enjoy such beauty.

This is where we "hung out" all this past week. Mild temperatures and sunny days seemed to call for several picnics in this beautiful state park. It was a fruitful week for photographs of birds and wildlife.

As I sat at the picnic table with a gentle warm breeze blowing in my hair--listening to the sounds of nature and other visitors nearby show their delight over a herd of deer walking by, I realized that it doesn't get much better than this!

A lot of visitors--from all over the world come here and stop at the scenic overlook. They always linger to take it all in and their reaction is always the same--silence--breathtaking silence.

  1. Don't you just love it? Nobody expects to see this in the land of desert and rattlesnakes. You can be driving along our roads, traversing miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles, then - all of a sudden - there's this 600' crack in the Earth.... *G* Beautiful shot, Shell.

  4. Yes, my dearest friend ... what more can you ask for? I am so happy for you and Dale.

Will be a little 'homeless' for just a while (I am sure), and will contact you when we get settled into someplace.

    Love, Loretta
